At Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, Ricoh will help visitors to the Playground of Life: Jellyfish Pavilion enter a world of sensory exploration where advanced technology and creative expression converge. Its thematic producer is Sachiko Nakajima, an acclaimed composer, jazz pianist, and mathematician. She and her team chose jellyfish as a central motif because they symbolize creativity, vitality and the sometimes unexplainable.
Ricoh is partnering with this pavilion, contributing its expertise in display technology to further engage visitors. Its brightvox 3D holographic signage will transform the first-floor theater stage into a dynamic visual space, adding depth to performances and presentations.
On the second floor, a playground for the five senses zone will feature Ricoh’s Interactive Whiteboard D8600, which employs a stunning 86-inch 4K display and multi-touch sensing for an incredibly immersive experience.
Ricoh made Fulfillment through Work central to its mission and vision in progressing toward its centennial in 2036. This mission extends beyond merely improving operational efficiency and productivity. It is about understanding and transforming how people work, empowering them to find satisfaction and accomplishment in what they achieve. Ricoh supports work styles that enable individuals to thrive and perform at their best as individuals and as part of teams. It thereby seeks to contribute to a sustainable society where job satisfaction and economic growth go hand in hand.
Ricoh chose to partner with the pavilion because Nakajima’s concept of “Life dances, sings, and unfolds. A vibrant manifestation of being truly alive!” aligns with the company’s enduring commitment fo Fulfillment through Work. Ricoh will leverage this partnership to explore new contributions within and beyond the world of work.

The brightvox 3D imaging system for event venues, exhibitions, stores, and showrooms provides three-dimensional images from any angle, just like holograms in science fiction films. Its developer is brightvox Inc., a hardware startup that emerged from Ricoh’s TRIBUS new business accelerator program.
At the pavilion, brightvox 3D will take on the unprecendented challenge of developing and staging a production to generate enchanting real-time 3D jellyfish images that sway and dance in response to incidental sound and light.
This 86-inch touch display will enable visitors to engage immersively with the pavilion. Cards employing acoustic augmented reality technology will change background music and instrument sounds. Other cards will add visual effects to faces and bodies, with displays changing as visitors hold up different cards to interact with the system.
Visitors will also be able to switch display content to possible to watch activities at Future Earth Schools around the world.
Sachiko Nakajima produced Invigorating Lives, the thematic project for Playground of Life: The Jellyfish Pavilion. The concept of “Life dances, sings, and unfolds. A vibrant manifestation of being truly alive!” aims to spark creativity within visitors by providing a multisensory experience.
