TOKYO, April 3, 2024 – Ricoh today announced the sale of its eDiscovery Services business in the United States and Canada to Array, a litigation support company that provides a comprehensive suite of legal services, headquartered in Texas, United States. The transfer is effective as of April 1, 2024. The impact of the business transfer on the company's results of operations is expected to be minimal.
eDiscovery is the process of identifying and providing electronic data that can be used as evidence in civil litigation in the United States. Ricoh eDiscovery Services business has been in operation since 2012 in the United States and 2014 in Canada, and its offerings include ISO 9001:2015 quality-certified evidence and document management solutions, as well as litigation support services that successfully integrate technology, defensible process and professional services to meet the unique needs of the legal industry. With innovative solutions that deliver insight and control, Ricoh eDiscovery solutions enable organizations to make informed business decisions, discover critical information from their data at the earliest stage.
The agreement enables both Ricoh and Array to deliver more specialized services to customers in the legal industry. Aligned with Ricoh's global strategy to shift management resources to businesses with high profitability and future growth potential such as Process Automation and Workplace Experience, the company carefully considered the sale of its eDiscovery Services business, one of the Business Process Services (BPS) Ricoh offers in the US and Canadian markets as outsourcing services for client services. This is to augment Ricoh's focus in developing and delivering solutions that support and optimize the workplace experience in a hybrid environment. Array's focus on the legal services industry and proven background in eDiscovery will also help accelerate the growth of the customers. Having determined the agreement is in the best interests of the company and its customers, Ricoh agreed to move forward in the sale to Array.
