Infomation Ricoh Chairperson and JCLP Co-chair visit Chief Cabinet Secretary to discuss proposal on accelerating decarbonization
TOKYO, November 29, 2024 – Ricoh today announced Jake Yamashita, its Chairperson and Co-Chair of the Japan Climate Leaders' Partnership (JCLP)*, has visited Yoshimasa Hayashi, Chief Cabinet Secretary on November 27 to discuss a JCLP policy proposal to accelerate greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions and increase in the ratio of renewable energy to halt the climate crisis and achieve economic growth in Japan. JCLP disclosed the proposal on November 14 following the inauguration of the second Ishiba cabinet.
JCLP calls on the Japanese government to raise its 2035 GHG emission reduction targets to more than 75% from 2013 levels and increase the share of renewable energy to more than 60%. JCLP stressed the importance of strengthening economic security, transitioning to a high value-added economy, and regional development and conveyed its expectations for the government.

*JCLP is a coalition of businesses in Japan launched in 2009 to encourage the business sector to develop a sound sense of urgency on climate action. It aims to become leading companies necessary on the pathway towards a decarbonized society. As a cross-sectoral business group, it has a membership of 250 including major companies in Japan (as of November 2024), its total sales are estimated to be ¥157 trillion, and electricity demand together amounts to approx. 78 TWh (including overseas businesses). Since April 2017, JCLP has been the Climate Group's Regional Delivery Partner on RE100, EP100 and EV100 initiatives in Japan.
