TOKYO, November 29, 2024 – Ricoh today announced Jake Yamashita, its Chairperson and Co-Chair of the Japan Climate Leaders' Partnership (JCLP)*, has visited Yoshimasa Hayashi, Chief Cabinet Secretary on November 27 to discuss a JCLP policy proposal to accelerate greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions and increase in the ratio of renewable energy to halt the climate crisis and achieve economic growth in Japan. JCLP disclosed the proposal on November 14 following the inauguration of the second Ishiba cabinet.
JCLP calls on the Japanese government to raise its 2035 GHG emission reduction targets to more than 75% from 2013 levels and increase the share of renewable energy to more than 60%. JCLP stressed the importance of strengthening economic security, transitioning to a high value-added economy, and regional development and conveyed its expectations for the government.
