Transition of the Ricoh logo
Since its first establishment in 1963, Ricoh’s “face” has evolved along with its corporate development over the past half century, and will continue to evolve into the future.
- Apr. 1963
- Ricoh’s first corporate brand logo was established in April 1963 when the company was renamed Ricoh, adopting the symbol that had already been used to identify Ricoh brand products since 1960.
- 1972
- This logo began to be used around 1972 for the company name when it appeared in English, and appeared broadly in printed and signage advertising. As a quasi-official corporate brand logo, this symbol was used concurrently with the preceding corporate logo.
- Feb. 1986
- Launched in February 1986 in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Ricoh’s founding. Prioritizing identifiability, this logotype was designed to symbolize creativity, humanity, internationality and communication—key themes to be pursued in line with its mission statements formulated as part of its corporate identity projects.
- Sep. 2005
- The current logo was introduced in September 2005, with increased legibility, reflecting raised global recognition. It was designed to represent the three ideas defined for Ricoh Brand Benefits: “Harmonize with the environment” “Simplify your life and work” and “Support knowledge management .”
In April 2012, in addition to the logo, we created the corporate tagline, “imagine. change.” This is an expression of our commitment to bringing together the Group’s imaginative capabilities to drive creative changes for offering new customer values.
