Three Ricoh compact digital cameras receive the "iF product design award 2010" international design award
Tokyo, Japan, December 15, 2009 — Ricoh Co., Ltd. (president and CEO: Shiro Kondo) today announced that its GR DIGITAL III, CX1, and CX2 compact digital cameras have received the "iF product design award 2010" for outstanding design.
Organized by German company iF International Forum Design GmbH, the iF design awards are among the most respected in the world. Not limited to Germany, the competition receives many entries from throughout the world, and the international acclaim that accompanies an iF product design award brings strong global appraisal for the winners. Of the 2,486 entries submitted to " iF product design award 2010," 778 received awards.
Of the three digital camera models submitted by Ricoh, all were presented iF design awards.
･ GR DIGITAL III
The GR DIGITAL III is the latest compact digital camera in the GR DIGITAL II (launched in November 2007) and GR DIGITAL (October 2005) series. It carries on the tradition of the GR compact film camera series, which received rave reviews for outstanding image quality in the years following the 1996 launch. Despite its compact and slim body, just 25.5 millimeters thick, the GR DIGITAL III delivers a standard of image reproduction worthy of demanding professionals. Since its launch, the GR DIGITAL series and its unchanging design concept have been enthusiastically received by a broad range of customers, including professional and advanced amateur photographers.
･ CX1 and CX2
The CX1 (March 2009) and the CX2 (September 2009) are two models in the CX series of digital cameras with compact bodies and high-magnification wide-angle zoom lenses. The use of Smooth Imaging Engine IV and a CMOS sensor capable of high-speed image processing has made it possible for the CX series to realize both high image quality and high-speed continuous shooting capabilities. These compact digital cameras boast an extensive range of functions as tools for easy and enjoyable picture taking.
