GXR : Updated functions - By Modes

The feature enhancement firmware updates include the new features or options in the camera menu. Which will improve usebility or performance to the latest functions. The latest firmware update will include all previous updates.

The following charts list the updated functions [by modes].

The AE/AF target shift function is now available in some scene modes.
The scene modes that this function can be used vary depending on the attached unit. The AE/AF target shift cannot be used with the following scene modes; Portrait, Sports, Landscape, Nightscape, Miniaturize, and Toy Camera.

ISO Auto, ISO Auto-Hi for ISO settings are now enabled in the M mode (Manual Exposure mode).

[B] (bulb] and [T] (time) options are now available for shutter speed in the Manual Exposure mode. The maximum exposure time available varies depending on the camera unit. RICOH LENS P10 is up to 30 seconds, and other units are up to 180 seconds.

Supported aspect ratios for Auto Resize Zoom are included. Auto Resize Zoom is now available when [16:9], [3:2], or [1:1] is selected.

Vignetting can be set individually for [Cross Process], [Toy Camera] scenes.
v1.40 v1.40 applied applied v1.40 v1.40 Enlarged view for monitoring
Enlarged view works as follows. Pressing and holding down the [MENU/OK] button this will magnify the center portion of the screen. Pressing and holding down again the [MENU/OK] button will display the magnified portion over the entire screen. Pressing and holding down the same button again will return to the normal display.

Target Tracking has been added as a AE/AF Target Shift method that displays when the ADJ. lever is pressed.

Pressing the delete button during target shift returns the target position to the center of the image. Pressing the delete button again exits target shifting.

The following 5 modes has been added to the SCENE mode; [Soft Focus], [Cross Process], [Toy Camera], [Miniaturize], and [High Contrast B & W].

The [Display Magnification Ratio] option has been added to the Shooting menu. The magnification ratio can be selected from [2x], [4x], or [8x]. This feature works when you make enlarged the center of the screen by pressing and holding the MENU/OK button while monitoring. With target shift, or manual focus, the enlarged display position can be moved with directional pad ([+], [-], [Fn1], [Fn2]).

Up-down Dial can also be used for selection of Flash modes or self-timer options.

While pressing down the Macro button in the MF, the Focus Ring movement will become faster.

[ISO-BKT] is included in the bracketing options.

The shooting interval can be set to a minimum of 2 seconds. Also the maximum number of [Interval Shooting] can be set.

[RAW only] mode is included for [RAW/JPEG Setting] in the [Picture Quality/Size].
v1.40 v1.40 applied applied N/A N/A New setting for ISO sensitivity
[ISO-LO] (equivalent to ISO 100) is available.
1.40 1.40 applied applied 1.40 1.40 [Focus Assist] function
Area in focus will be highlighted to make it easier to adjust the focus.

ISO setting options are now in 1/3EV step. Selectable ISO setting values are included.

The [AUTO] option has been added to the [Noise Reduction] in the Shooting menu.

The MAX option has been added to the [Noise Reduction] in the Shooting menu.

The [Noise Reduction] options become selectable in Nightscape or in Landscape in the SCENE mode.

Originally there was one option for incandescent light in White Balance, but [Incandescent 1] and [Incandescent 2] become available. [Incandescent 2] will result with slightly warmer than [Incandescent 1]. The original [Incandescent] is replaced by [Incandescent 2].

When the [Shutter Speed Auto Shift] is set to [On] in the S mode, the camera will automatically adjust shutter speed for optimal exposure in the case that the selected shutter speed by the user will result for over exposure or under exposure.

The [Aspect Ratio] options can be assigned to [ADJ.Lever Setting 1] ~ [ADJ.Lever Setting 4] in Key Custom Settings tab. This option is available when Picture Quality/Size is selected to [RAW], [L], or [M] that have the aspect ratio options.

The [Aspect Ratio] options can be assigned to [Set Fn1 Button] or [Set Fn2 Button] in Key Custom Settings tab. This option is available when Picture Quality/Size is selected to [RAW], [L], or [M] that has the aspect ratio options.

The [Delete My Settings] has been added to the Setup menu (Key Custom Settings tab). This option restores the settings for [MY1], [MY2], [MY3] on the mode dial to default, or reset the My Setting Box to default.

The [Restore defaults] option has been added to the Setup menu (Key Custom Settings tab). This option restores the key custom options to default.

The [ADJ. Direct ISO Control] option is added in Key Customer Options. When the camera is ready to shoot and this option is [On], ISO sensitivity can be changed by turning the ADJ. lever.

[Zoom Position] can be registered/edited in My Settings.

Either [1 EV] or [1/3 EV] is selectable for [ISO Step Setting] in the Setup menu.

The [Keep shooting conditions] function is now available in the Setup menu. This function can hold the following values to the next shooting ; Focus, Aperture, Shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, and White balance. It works when ; after taking a picture, but without releasing the shutter, return your finger position until half-press and keep the position.

Now you can set a time for [Sleep Mode] or [Auto Power Off] by minute (in the range between 1 ~ 30 minutes).

[Copyright notice] has been included in the Setup menu. Once you have registered your copyright with this option, the copyright will be entered into the Exif information of the images. The copyright entered with this option can be displayed in the [Details + histogram] display in the playback mode. Available letters are alphabets, numbers, and some symbols. A text can be up to 46 letters long.

This option shows the current version of the firmware. Firmware update is also available from this menu.
v1.40 v1.40 applied applied v1.40 v1.40 [Focus Assist Selection] option
Two display modes can be selected for Focus assist function. These can only be used when the [Focus Assist] is [On].
v1.40 v1.40 applied applied v1.40 v1.40 [Zoom Display Release] option in the enlarged view
This option determines the display status after shooting. [On] will exit the enlarged view, [Off] will remain in the enlarged view.
v1.40 v1.40 applied applied v1.40 v1.40 [ISO Auto-High Settings] option
New options are added for ISO [Auto-Hi]. Now the upper limit for ISO sensitivity, and the shutter speed when to switch the ISO sensitivity can be set.

When enlarging a picture at playback, the picture will be magnified with centering around the position of AE/AF target shift.

The [Spot AF Area Setting] is added in the Setup menu. [Normal] or [Pinpoint] is selectable.

N/A v1.17 N/A N/A N/A N/A [New feature : Macro AF Distance Limit]
[Macro AF Distance Limit] option is added in the Shooting menu. When this option is [On], the following can be selectable each time by pressing the Macro button; [Macro On 10 - 30 cm], [Macro On 7 - 10 cm], or [Macro Off]. This option limits the distance that can be focused in AF, and it will make auto focus quickly.
