Since FY2011, Ricoh has been systematically conducting activities to switch the lighting used in its business premises to LED lamps. The LED lamps installed are Ricoh’s own CLARTE lamps. Their special features are that they can be easily fitted without any electrical work, and can be attached to existing lighting apparatus thus providing instant energy savings. Making the most of these features, in FY2013 we installed around 90,000 of the lamps in Ricoh’s premises around Japan, including both buildings we own and those we rent.
After installation, according to research conducted by employees, nearly everyone asked voiced affirmative evaluations of the new lighting environment, with comments such as “I like the fact that they don’t flicker when you turn them on,” and “The room and my desk are bright enough to work comfortably in.”
The CO2 reduction results of this activity amounts to 1,982 tons per year, and an electricity tariff saving of about 60.75 million yen*.
Ricoh concentrated on the lighting that accounts for nearly 40% of energy consumption in its offices, and in conjunction with Multi Function Printers (MFPs) and printers launched provision of CLARTE energy-saving straight tube LED lamps that use all the latest technologies in order to enable wider and deeper energy savings and CO2 reductions. Based on the successful record of their use in our offices, we will make concrete suggestions to customers about the product, and contribute to the creation of offices that are pleasant to work in and do not place any burden on the environment.
